Memori kolektif peristiwa heroik Bojongkokosan dalam Museum Palagan Perjuangan 1945 Bojongkokosan (1992-2023)

Abstract

This research explores how the collective memory of a historical event, which occurred in Sukabumi Regency, the second-largest district in Java, has developed and formed the foundation of the local community’s way of life, and how this is documented through a historical monument in the area. The main focus of this study is to document the collective memory of the Bojongkokosan event from 1992 to the present and to analyze the representation of cultural practices within it. Data were obtained from monument managers, several community leaders, and related community members. The study employs the framework of cultural memory studies and utilizes the methodology of Cultural Studies, particularly the ethnographic approach. The findings indicate that the Bojongkokosan Battlefield Monument plays a significant role in shaping the collective memory of the heroic Bojongkokosan event, thereby enhancing historical awareness among the Sukabumi community.
