Kesadaran sejarah siswa SMA melalui kunjungan ke Museum Pendidikan Nasional UPI sebagai sumber belajar sejarah

Abstract

Historical awareness among high school students is crucial for understanding and preserving cultural heritage. The National Education Museum of UPI offers a unique opportunity to enhance students’ historical knowledge through interactive exhibits and educational resources. This study investigates the effectiveness of museum visits as a learning tool in history education. A survey method with a quantitative approach was used, involving 280 high school students who visited the National Education Museum of UPI from October to February. Data were collected using questionnaires and interviews focusing on students’ historical awareness and their experiences during the museum visit. The findings show that visits to the National Education Museum of UPI significantly increased students’ historical awareness. Students reported higher engagement and better retention of historical knowledge due to the interactive nature of the exhibits. Teachers also noted an improvement in students’ understanding of historical events and figures, attributed to the museum’s comprehensive and tangible learning resources. The National Education Museum of UPI plays a vital role in history education by providing a rich, engaging, and interactive learning environment. This study confirms the importance of integrating museum visits into the curriculum to enhance historical awareness and appreciation among high school students. Continuous research and professional development for teachers are essential to maximize the educational benefits of such learning resources.
