Abstract

This research aims to describe the content of Indonesian history textbooks that contain information about the history of the Chinese ethnic group in Indonesia at the high school level based on the 2013 curriculum. The research method used is content analysis of the textbooks, using literature review with secondary data from library studies to understand the mapping of Indonesian history learning in high schools that use the 2013 curriculum. The mapping results indicate that the content related to the Chinese ethnic group in Indonesian history textbooks is described only in specific subchapters of the history textbooks in high schools based on the 2013 curriculum. In the 10th-grade textbooks, the role of the Chinese ethnic group is found in the prehistoric era, as well as their role in the spread of Hindu-Buddhist kingdoms and Islamic kingdoms. In 11th-grade learning materials, the content is related to the Western colonial era, the national movement, and the proclamation of independence, as well as the struggle to maintain Indonesia’s independence. In 12th-grade textbooks, the content is related to liberal democracy, guided democracy, the New Order, and the reform era, where the spread and role of the Chinese ethnic group in Indonesian history is discussed. By studying the history of the Chinese ethnic group in Indonesia through the subject of Indonesian history in high school, it is possible to promote harmony in community life and eliminate anti-Chinese attitudes in Indonesian society.
