Abstract

This article intends to discuss about P.M. Noor’s role in history of Indonesia. P.M. Noor had aristocratic blood since he held the title of Prince; he was also a technocrat because he was an engineer; a bureaucrat because he served as the first governor of Kalimantan (1945-1950), as Vice Minister of Transport (1945-1946), and as Minister of Public Works and Power (1950-1959); a politician due to his positions as a member of the Volksraad (in two terms 1931-1939) in colonial times, member of BPUPKI during pre-Proclamation, member of DPRS-RI (1950-1956), and members of DPA. As one of the members of BPUPKI and PPKI who established Indonesia, as well as a person who involved in independence revolution battles through MN-1001 troops, he is also deserved to be called as founding father. As a leader, he was a statesman who thought a lot about state welfare through development projects, such as Barito River Authority.
